We are a fellowship of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. We share a holy fellowship in Him. We enjoy times of fellowship and worship together. We seek to encourage one another and care for one another as Christ has commanded us. We seek to faithfully witness to Christ and His saving grace to our friends and neighbors.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen. (Matthew 28:19-20)
The word orthodox in our name simply means “straight teaching.” We believe the Bible consisting of the Old and New Testaments to be the Word of God. We believe in the inerrancy and the sufficiency of the Word of God as the supreme authority for our faith and practice. God has revealed Himself to us in the Bible and here he directs us how we may glorify and enjoy him. Therefore in all our preaching, teaching and practice we seek to be faithful to the teachings of scripture and to apply them to our lives.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine; for reproof; for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
The central message of the Bible is the message of how God is glorifying himself through the person and work of Jesus Christ, the crucified and risen savior. Jesus is himself the focus of the scriptures and the focus of our preaching. Jesus is the head and savior of the church. We find the forgiveness of sins, life, and fellowship with God in Christ alone. Jesus Christ is the Cornerstone of Cornerstone OPC.If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. ... For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3: 1,3)
Having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone. (Ephesians 2:20)
We rejoice in the rich heritage that we have in the Protestant Reformation. The blessings God brought through the reformation include: a return to the Bible as the supreme authority, the knowledge of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, and the doctrines of God's sovereignty and holiness. We believe that the Westminster Confession of Faith, along with the Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms, contain the system of doctrine taught in the holy Scriptures.
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
We are a member congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. The word Presbyterian comes from the Greek word presbyteros, meaning "elder." We recognize the responsibility to lead and be led by Christ in a Biblical church. Our church is ruled by ministers and elders who submit to the word of God and seek to minister in Christ's name as men who must give an account to him.
Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive; for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief; for that would be unprofitable for you. (Hebrews 13: 17)
